Arriving in Kostroma, you can make a trip to the places of the feat of Ivan Susanin.
Ivan Susanin is a Kostroma peasant who saved the life of the first king of the Romanov dynasty – Michael. According to legend, Ivan Susanin led a Polish detachment looking for Mikhail Romanov into an impenetrable swamp. Ivan Susanin died, but did not reveal the whereabouts of the chosen tsar.
The tour begins with a visit to the Museum of the Feat of Ivan Susanin - the main attraction of the village of Susanino. Here you will not only learn about the events of 1613, but also see works of art and literature, where the feat of Susanin was reflected. The museum also presents the stories of people who were able to repeat the feat of our great countryman. The museum building is located in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ. Interesting fact: this church was depicted in the painting by A. Savrasov “Rooks have arrived”.

Then we will go to the swamp, where according to legend I. Susanin led a detachment of Polish nobility. We will visit the observation deck, and in the warm season we will even walk along the trail - a lagoon leading deep into the swamp.
The tour will end with a visit to the current church of the Assumption of the Most Holy Virgin, built in the 19th century on the site of the Romanov family estate in the village of Domnino.
