State Memorial and Natural Museum-Reserve of A.N. Ostrovsky "Shchelykovo"

Shchelykovo is a museum complex that includes museum objects, natural monuments - unique landscapes, rivers, spring water keys, picturesque ravines. This place is associated with the life and work of the great playwright A.N. Ostrovsky.

The complex of the museum-reserve:

1. The house of A.N. Ostrovsky is the heart of the museum-reserve. Here the playwright lived with his family, communicated with friends, worked. The house creates a feeling of living, conveys a spiritual and creative atmosphere.
2. The manor park with arbors, bridges, benches, shady alleys is a great place for walks. The main decoration of the park is a variety of perspectives.
3. The expositions and exhibitions of the literary and theater museum tell about the work of the playwright and his era: “The fairytale world of the Snow Maiden” is about Ostrovsky’s play-tale, her life in Russian culture. "Poetics of manor life" gives an opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of the Russian noble estate. “The Spirit of Time is such...” introduces the era of A. N. Ostrovsky, the themes and problems that worried the playwright and were reflected in his work.
4. Ethnographic Museum “Sobolev House” arose in the bowels of the House of A. N. Ostrovsky: items of peasant life were purchased and placed in one of its small rooms. When the house of the peasant I.V. Sobolev, a friend of A.N. Ostrovsky, was restored, things returned to their native environment.
5. The temple of St. Nicholas was built by representatives of the noble noble family Kutuzov. This temple was visited by A. N. Ostrovsky and his family, here the playwright was buried, in the church fence the grave of A. N. Ostrovsky.
6. The Blue House was built according to the project of the daughter of the playwright M.A. Ostrovsky-Chatelen in 1903. Now it is a cultural and educational center. Temporary exhibitions are regularly opened here, creative meetings are held, “Snow Maiden Residence” and “Snow Maiden Workshop” are open.

Museums are open from 09:00 to 17:45. The weekend is Monday.

The ticket office and the souvenir shop are open until 17:00 and with a break for lunch from 13:00 to 14:00.
