On December 22, 1992, the first issue of the magazine “Government House” was published.

A year has passed since the signing of the Belovezh Accords and the collapse of the Soviet Empire. The war boiled at the borders. Inflation was skyrocketing, money was worth nothing. And in Kostroma, Nikolai Murenin and Tatiana Goncharova lit the lights of the “Government House”. In December, the first trial issue of the magazine was published.

It opened with an editorial:

“But each of us, consciously or not, was once a leaf and a rain, each had a stepfather’s home and his image in our minds still persists. The place where I spent my childhood, where I often want to return. Step on a familiar threshold, go to a small quiet room, light the light and pick up your favorite old book. To old favorite books we turn now, alas, rarely read more about the current one. And everything seems to be about the same thing: swearing, calling, frightening. First they expose, and then they refute the whistleblowers. It is a pity, but for many natural life associated with heaven, earth, home, often passes by and does not exist. It was replaced by artificial, political, or rather near-political life, again dividing people into both. And in the fuss we somehow began to forget about many things that unite us, about the fact that the main thing we have, despite all our differences, still have in common: history and culture, faith and homeland.

Since then, it has been a tradition to open the room with a greeting. The first "good word" instructed readers Vasily Diaghilev. He recalled the years of NEP, compared and confessed, “Yet I believe we will survive these difficult years.”
