Rescuer: architect Kaleria Torop in Kostroma
Description:
Architect Kaleria Gustavovna Torop was born in Kostroma on March 2, 1917.
For a long time she left her hometown - studied in Moscow as an architect, restored after the war destroyed objects. Only with the formation of the region returned to their native land, and in 1948 became the chief architect of Kostroma.
At first it seemed that the old buildings could be left only around the Resurrection Church on Debre, and everything else to build new houses in the style of Stalinist classicism. But gradually she realized that the whole city is a reserve.
In June 1957, Kaleria Torop was appointed chief architect of the restoration workshops. Thanks to her efforts, Hypatius and the Church of the Resurrection on Debra were restored, a museum of wooden architecture was created. They gathered and trained people who put their lives on the restoration of monuments.
And yet its main merit can be considered the preservation of the ensemble of the city center, which was supposed to be “reconstructed” in connection with the planned construction of the building of the regional party committee on the Kremlin hill on the “model project” of Moscow skyscrapers. It would not have been with her care, her ability to raise people, to organize resistance – and there would not have been not only shopping arcades in Kostroma, but also rows in Galich, many architectural pearls would have disappeared.
You'll take the red route. "Kostroma at 15:15."In the alley on Mira Avenue, remember this when you see a square with her name.
According to the materials of the scientific consultant of the project “Kostroma at 15:15” candidate of cultural studies Larisa Sizintseva.
