Obelisk to Kuban Chekists

On the eve of the 60th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the capital of Kuban received another remarkable monument. In the youngest district of Krasnodar, an obelisk was solemnly opened, dedicated to the memory of the Kuban Chekists who gave their lives for the safety of our Motherland. Hundreds of residents of the city attended the ceremony. Even the organizers of the celebration did not expect such attention from ordinary Krasnodar residents.

In the nineties, many sins of the Soviet system were written off on the employees of the Federal Security Service. Sometimes it was even about abolishing the Russian special services as unnecessary. Many police officers have left their office. But, fortunately, there are still real patriots in the ranks, ready to serve their Fatherland against everything. It was they who stood up to protect civilians in Nord-Ost and Beslan, Budenovsk and Pervomaysk. How many terrorists were killed in Chechnya? For today’s residents of Kuban, an officer of the Federal Security Service is, first of all, a defender who can immediately come to the rescue in any situation.

Under the solemn salute of cadets of the military school, the scarlet ribbon was cut by the leaders of the Krasnodar Territory and the capital of the Kuban, headed by Governor Alexander Tkachev, as well as the head of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Krasnodar Territory, Vladimir Molchanov, and the head of the FSB of Russia, Colonel-General Yevgeny Lovyrev, who specially came to this ceremony from Moscow.

The twelve-meter obelisk of the famous Kuban authors sculptor Alan Kornaev and architect Viktor Karpychev has become a real decoration of Krasnodar. This is only the fifth such monument erected in modern Russia. Delivered with sincere love and gratitude to the staff of the Federal Security Service for their hard, but very necessary work.
