Monument to I.E. Repin

The monument to the outstanding Russian artist Ilya Repin was erected for the 200th anniversary of Krasnodar in 1993. The city played an important role in the life of the artist - it was here that Repin sketched his famous painting, which depicts Zaporozhians writing a letter to the Turkish sultan.

It is young, at the time of work on his famous painting, Repina depicts a sculpture installed near the Art Museum. The place was chosen specifically because the artist took part in the opening of the museum and the formation of its collection.
