Anti-aircraft monument n
Russia, Krasnodar, St. Stavropolskaya, 149
Description:
Near the Kuban State University in Krasnodar in 1973, thirty years after the liberation of the city from fascist invaders, a monument to Soviet anti-aircraft gunners was erected.
In the spring of 1943 in Krasnodar were fierce battles for the liberation of the city and Kuban. The Nazis, driven from the ground, tried to attack from the sky. There was a fierce battle in the air.
In the battles took part not only military pilots, but also anti-aircraft troops. At the same place where the obelisk is installed today, there was a crew of the 57th anti-aircraft division, which fired German planes from the ground. Having shot down one enemy plane, he could not avoid firing on the next.
All eight soldiers were buried at the site of their last battle, and thirty years later an anti-aircraft gun was installed here in memory of them. On the plaque are engraved all eight names of the dead anti-aircraft gunners.
