A.S. Pushkin Library Building

8 Krasnodar, Krasnodar Krai, Russia, 350063

Description:

The library building was built in 1910 and is an architectural monument in the style of neoclassicism of the early XX century. The building was built and originally used as an Armenian school, where children of Armenian nationality studied, arranged folk readings and staged performances.

The project of the building provided for a rich external and internal decoration of the premises. The facade was decorated with four semi-columns and a balcony above the central entrance. The interior of the school looked no less rich - the hall and lobby were decorated with columns with warrants, ceilings with ornaments and chic marble stairs. In 1956, the building was restored after significant destruction during the Nazi occupation of the city and since then it has housed the Pushkin Library.
