The Museum of Yu.V. Kondratyuk (A.I. Shargei) was opened on October 4, 1973 on the territory of the Krylov Elevator according to the order No. 43-16-11 dated 25.01.1972 by the Krasnodar Regional Administration of Bread Products.
He worked on a voluntary basis under the guidance of the chief engineer of the elevator V.N. Ivashchenko, who is the founder and first director of the museum. For more than 20 years he collected scattered memories, copies of documents, any small thing that could bring clarity to the mysterious biography of Yuri Kondratyuk.
Currently, the role and significance of Kondratyuk’s work in the development and formation of cosmonautics are known and generally recognized, he is rightly called the second Tsiolkovsky.
