Tourists will pay a special fee to enter Venice
Description:
Venice is the first city in Europe to introduce a fee for tourists. This measure is aimed at controlling the flow of visitors and ensuring the safety of residents of the city.
During the period from April 25 to July 14, tourists must book and pay in advance for a visit to the historic district of the city for 5 euros. Payment can be made through a special online platform. After successful payment, travelers will receive the QR code required to pass through checkpoints.
As an exception, there will be special kiosks at the entrance to the city, where tourists will be able to get a code, so to speak, at the last minute.
But the good news is that the fee will only be charged on certain days and times, namely from 8:30 to 16:00 in the following periods of four months:
- April 25-30,
- May 1 – 5, 11 – 12, 18 – 19, 25 – 26,
- 8 – 9, 15 – 16, 22 – 23, 29 – 30 June,
- 6 - 7, 13 - 14 July.
First of all, the new rules will apply to so-called one-day tourists who do not stay overnight. Travellers who stay in hotels for the night will have to register with the system to receive an official “exempt fee”. Violators face fines ranging from 50 to 300 euros, plus a fee of 10 euros. Controllers will be stationed at and near the main entrances to the city, particularly Santa Lucia Train Station.
Experienced travelers know that a Schengen visa is required to travel to Europe. Entrust the registration of documents to professionals: apply to the MFVC right now.
