Petrovsky Estate
c. Petrovo-Far, Krasnogorsk district, Moscow region
Description:
Petrovsky Estate (Durnevo) is located in the Krasnogorsk district of the Moscow region. The first written mention of the village of Petrovsky, formerly called Durnevo, dates back to 1504. In 1670, Prince P.I. Prozorovskiy became the owner of the estate, under which the Petrovsky-Durnevo estate was built. In 1684 a stone church of the Assumption was built here. In 1720, the estate was owned by the Golitsyns, who created a magnificent manor complex combining residential and outbuildings, many of which have survived to this day.
To this day, the main manor two-storey house, built in the XIX century instead of a castle in the Gothic style built in the 1760s, has been preserved. Preserved also paired brick wings of the XVIII century, wooden residential wing with mezzanine, human, forage barn, horse yard. In the park there is an alley of oaks, cascading ponds, Big and Small bridges. The Church of the Assumption of the XVII century has not reached our time, it was destroyed in the 1930s, carved iconostasis and rare icons were lost. Currently, a wooden church has been erected near the place where the Assumption Church was located.
