The museum is local history and contains two departments: historical and nature department. At present, new expositions are being created in the building where the museum moved in early 1998. |
The museum is located in a building-monument of history and architecture. The building was built in 1906 by the famous Astrakhan architect V. Valdovsky. The majestic exterior of the building is successfully combined with the classical interior, magnificent stucco ceilings. |

Near the museum is the Bratsky Garden - a place of traditional meetings of veterans and youth of Astrakhan on memorable days: May 9, May 22 at the monument - steles to all Astrakhan soldiers who died during the Second World War.
