Pushkin Drama Theatre

About the company:

Krasnoyarsk Drama Theatre of Pushkin is one of the oldest theaters in Siberia, it was founded in the XIX century. The first building of the drama theater was wooden, it opened the doors to the audience in 1878, even then the spacious halls could accommodate more than 300 residents of Krasnoyarsk, teaching them to cultural life.

Initially, the wooden theater did not have its own company, it was born only in 1887, two years after the construction of the theater building. The local theater society on the stage showed amateur performances, staged plays, studied drama. In 1898, the first wooden theater of Krasnoyarsk burned down in a fire. The new theater of Pushkin Krasnoyarsk was decided to build in a new place, on the Resurrection street, in the years of Soviet power renamed in Prospekt Mir.

The grand opening of the majestic three-storey building with a luxuriously decorated facade took place on February 17, 1902, it was then that it was called the Pushkin Theatre.

After the October Revolution, in 1920, the theater was renamed the Worker, and the orchestra included the best conductors from the Berlin Opera. A new fire occurred on January 19, 1930, the elimination of the damage caused by the fire was completely completed only by the end of 1935, the reconstruction project was developed by V. A. Sokolovsky.

Since 2008, the Pushkin Theatre annually holds the Festival of Modern Drama. New Code.
