Krasnoyarsk Music Theatre

About the company:

The Krasnoyarsk Musical Theatre, until 2008 called the Krasnoyarsk State Theatre of Musical Comedy, opened on February 20, 1959 with the premiere of the operetta Free Wind by I. Dunaevsky. Initially, the theater was located in the premises of the Palace of Culture of Railway Workers.

Young people were invited to the creative staff of the theater, who graduated from the Odessa, Lviv, Kharkiv, Moscow Conservatory. In a short time, the theater gained recognition and love of the audience.

In 1965, the Krasnoyarsk Theatre of Musical Comedy staged the second musical in the USSR (the first was at the Odessa Operetta Theatre) “My Fair Lady” by Frederick Law.

During this time, more than 200 performances were staged on the theater stage: ballet performances, comic operas, musicals, vaudevilles, musical comedies and operetta. The theater was known from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad: the press admired the capital level of his performances, many of which became winners of prizes of the All-Union, All-Russian and regional theater festivals.

In 1991, the theater moved to a new building, rebuilt according to the project of architect A. S. Demirkhanov. In 2006, a small hall appeared in the theater.
