Ivan Yarygin Sports Palace
Description:
The Sports Palace named after Ivan Sergeevich Yarygin was commissioned on November 5, 1981 and it was then called the Yenisei Sports Palace. The author of the project was a well-known architect, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Architecture Vitaly Orekhov.
In its form, the sports facility resembles an ancient ship – a caravel: the same dull nose, curved sides, round windows, as loopholes on the battery deck. Moreover, such associations are prompted by the location of the object - an island on the waves of the mighty Siberian Yenisei River.
The name of the legendary athlete, coach, leader, two-time Olympic champion Ivan Yarygin Palace has been since January 27, 1998.
In addition to holding competitions of various levels and concerts of popular pop stars in the palace, work is underway to attract children to sports and health groups. Swimming, rhythmic gymnastics, tennis, fencing, aerobics, shaping, yoga, oriental dance, ballroom dancing, acrobatics with elements of dance, table tennis. Older people do not remain without attention, groups of therapeutic gymnastics work for them, traditional athletics runs are held. On the basis of this unique sports facility there are two specialized children and youth sports schools of the Olympic reserve: Greco-Roman wrestling and weightlifting.
The Palace of Sports named after I.S. Yarygin is located in Krasnoyarsk on the island of Rest.
