Rivers of Siberia fountain
Description:
Krasnoyarsk has an unusual cascading fountain "Rivers of Siberia": a complex composition of bronze, marble and water. The fountain is built on a terrace descending from the Opera and Ballet Theater to the Yenisei Embankment. The water rolls right down the stairs.
The authors of the fountain are a creative group headed by Honored Architect of Russia Areg Demirkhanov and sculptor Konstantin Zinich.
The fountain is layered. The length of the water complex is more than 20 meters. In the evening it is illuminated. Italian watertight lamps and German pumping equipment were used in the installation of this structure. Work on the construction of the ensemble was carried out for more than one year.
It was launched in 2005. From 2006 until the spring of 2008, eight statues appeared on it one after another: seven nymphs - symbols of small rivers of Krasnoyarsk, dancing around the Yenisei-father. Each of them has its own author: Yenisei and Angara - Konstantin Zinich, Tunguska and Khatanga - Andrei Kiyanitsyn, Bazaikha and Kacha - Alexei Nicheporcuk, Biryusa and Mana - Viktor Mosielev.
The height of the sculptures of small rivers is 2 meters.
The Yenisei itself is a statue, weighing about 850 kilograms and 3 meters high. She was the last one to be sculpted. As Konstantin Zinich explains, initially it was not clear where to place the figure so that it looked most majestic, so they left it for last. And only in April 2008, the ladies of their father waited. The image of the elder is collective. At the base of the figure is a stone on which animals are depicted - representatives of the fauna of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Since ancient times, the Yenisei was considered the largest and full-flowing river of Eastern Siberia. Therefore, in the right hand of the sculpture is a rook. It was on such boats that our ancestors sailed along the mighty Siberian river.
The Rivers of Siberia fountain is a unique structure, since there are very few cascading fountains in Russia, and it is the first in Siberia. The theater square, which was popular before, after the appearance of the cascading fountain became the pride of citizens.
