Monument to Andrei Pozdeev

prosp. Mira, 83, Krasnoyarsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Russia

Description:

On Mira Avenue, in the historical center of Krasnoyarsk, a bronze figure flaunts with an open umbrella and easel. This is a monument to the famous artist Andrei Pozdeev. The grand opening of the monument took place in September 2000, on the birthday of the great creator. The height of the sculpture is 2 meters 5 centimeters. It was performed by local sculptor Yuri Zlote under the guidance of architect Mikhail Merkulov. They managed to convey the character of Andrei Gennadyevich, a person with a romantic and subtle soul. The umbrella above his head symbolizes the domes of the sky and creates the feeling that the artist is carrying his universe behind him.

The monument gave Andrei Pozdeev a second life, as most citizens perceive this bronze monument as a living person. A slightly mysterious affectionate smile, a wise and slightly sad look attracts almost all people passing by. Many Krasnoyarsk residents greet Pozdeev by the hand, as with their good comrade. Others are hugged and photographed, and among young people it is believed that the figure brings good luck. In 2007, the monument suffered from an act of vandalism, was broken and thrown nearby 30-kilogram umbrella. Soon the sculpture was restored, nowadays a nice man with a big umbrella looks at people and smiles brightly, giving them his creativity.
