The White Horse Monument
Description:
In June 2006, as part of the celebration of the City Day, the sculptural composition “White Horse” was opened in Krasnoyarsk. It is a monument in honor of Russian pioneers in Siberia. It is installed on the bank of the Yenisei on Strelka, in a place considered the historical center of Krasnoyarsk.
According to one legend, it was here in the 17th century that the Cossacks, led by Andrei Dubensky, first landed. The voivode got to the bank of the Yenisei on a horse, threw a checker, a whip and a papahu on a stone, said that a city would be built in this place, and then went to inspect the area. The animal rests and waits for its owner. This moment of history is immortalized in sculpture.
The monument is an exact copy of the horse of the middle Russian breed in life size. Height about 1.5 m, weight - 430 kg. They made a horse from wrought iron using ancient technology. Each element was forged separately, then welded with others. To ensure the correctness of the forms was observed as accurately as possible, the organizers of the project invited a veterinarian.
In addition to the horse itself, there are granite boulders in the composition, three of them are especially outstanding in size. On one - a sculpture, on the other - the attributes of a Cossack, and on the third - a fountain in the form of a stream. It turns out that the horse, bending down, drinks water, which spilled into a lake with a diameter of about 10 meters. By the way, on one of the stones there is a sign with the text: “The mother of cheese-earth-Siberia-proud unyielding-rested warrior.” However, despite the somewhat grieving nature of the inscription, the monument is quite earthly.
Initially, its authors decided that since the horse is life-size, it can be climbed. So she was forged with a saddle and stirrups.
Krasnoyarsk people call the monument “White Horse”. Near him with pleasure photographed the newlyweds and guests of Krasnoyarsk. And the area around the ensemble is considered a good place to walk.
