Krasnoyarsk

Theatre Square

Description:

In September 2005, the 350th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk square was renamed Theatre Square. Today it is the most beautiful square of Krasnoyarsk, which houses the Opera and Ballet Theater, the Krasnoyarsk Hotel, the city administration and the symbol of the city - the clock tower on the city hall building.

The author of the architectural project of the Theater Square is Areg Sarkisovich Demirkhanov. Active development and improvement of the square of the 350th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk began in 1967.

The area is solved in several levels. The lower level of the square is formed by the Yenisei embankment - one of the most beautiful in Russia.

In 2001, a complex of beautiful light and music fountains was opened on the Theatre Square - a unique structure with a computer control system. And in 2005, another complex of fountains was erected, connecting the upper level of the square with the embankment. It was called the Rivers of Siberia.

In June 2006, the Theatre Square was reconstructed. To the 378th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk, a statue of the ancient Greek god Apollo was erected here. The cascading fountain “Rivers of Siberia”, located on the second tier of the square, was also updated.

In winter, a city tree is traditionally installed on the square, and a snow town grows around - shapeless blocks of ice are turned by artists into fantastic castles, fabulous characters, outlandish animals.
