About the company:

The House-Museum of Decembrists, a structural unit of the Kurgan Regional Museum Association, opened in Kurgan on December 10, 1975.

The museum building is an object of cultural heritage of federal significance, an architectural monument of the end of the XVIII century. From 1833 to 1837, the Decembrist M.M. Naryshkin and his family lived in this house. Mikhail Mikhailovich Naryshkin, a colonel of the Tarutin Infantry Regiment, belonged to a noble and wealthy family. After the suppression of the uprising on the Senate Square, he was sentenced to hard labor, and in March 1833 with his wife Elizabeth Petrovna, who shared his fate, arrived at the settlement in Kurgan. The house in which the family settled was one of the largest and richest houses in the county city. The exiled Decembrists gathered here, musical evenings were held. After the departure of the Naryshkins to the Caucasus, the house housed a district court, in Soviet times - a pioneer club, a library, medical courses.

After the restoration, the house retained not only the appearance, but also the internal layout. The exposition of the museum contains more than 600 authentic items of noble life of the XIX century. The museum contains materials about 13 Decembrists who were on the settlement in Kurgan from 1830 to 1857.

Today, the House-Museum of the Decembrists is the visiting card of the city and region. On the territory of the museum there is a monument to M.M. Naryshkin. It hosts sightseeing and thematic excursions, traditional musical living rooms "Naryshka Fridays", literary salons and other interactive events.
