In the center of the city, on Lenin Street (between Lenin and Radishchev Streets), now stands a beautiful white-stone palace - this is the building of the Pushkin Drama Theater, the construction of which was completed in 1983. The design of the building was carried out in Moscow by the workshops of CNIIEP named after B.S. Mezentsev. The elegant, majestic facade is crowned by an eight-meter bronze sculpture of the goddess of victory Niki, who holds a palm branch in her outstretched right hand - a symbol of peace. At her feet on both sides there are two theatrical masks made of white stone. This is the work of a group of Moscow sculptors, members of the Union of Artists V.M. Akimushkina, A.G. Knorre, P.V. Melnikova and S.N. Volkov The auditorium is a large, spacious amphitheater with a balcony. The hall can accommodate up to 1000 people. It has suspended ceilings, wall panels cast from plaster. Unique decoration of the foyer and almost 400 chandeliers, made by special order. The walls of the foyer are lined with beautiful tiles of Armenian stone - filsite, which is selected so that it makes a bizarre, elegant pattern resembling a plant ornament. The opening of the new theater took place in 1983. The building became one of the attractions of the city and its decoration.
