On February 22, 1965, the first meeting of the Museum Council was held. The first director was Alexander Yakovlevich Tassov - a philologist-pedagogue, taught history, local historian, collector-numismatist. He served as director of the museum from 1965 to 1968. Opening day of the regional museum - April 30, 1966. In the late 70s, the museum was allocated two rooms in an old hotel on Mira Avenue, at the same time it received the title of people’s. At that time, its director was appointed Eduard Yanovich Sipovich - writer, master of decorative and applied creativity, local historian. In April 1992, there was a fire that destroyed 80% of exhibits and materials, museum values. And the museum was allocated room in the building of the old administration on Orenburg street, 22. The head of the museum was Tamara Fedorovna Bichina (1982 to 2002). In 2002, Victoria Viktorovna Kalacheva was appointed director of the regional museum. In November 2002, the Kuvandyk District Museum of Local Lore was merged with the exhibition hall, occupying 324 square meters on the first floor of the building in the right wing of the square. The initiator of the association was the director of the museum V.V. Kalacheva. After the merger, the institution received the name of the Kuvandyk Museum and Exhibition Center. Today, the Museum and Exhibition Center has an area of more than 400 square meters: six exposition halls, three exhibition halls for exhibiting the works of artists and masters of folk art, a reservoir of 40 square meters. At the IEC there are three creative associations: 1. "White Rainbow" - a community of Kuvandyk and Mednogorsk artists 2. Literary Club 3. Folk choir of veterans "Rodnichok".
