About the company:

The Lipetsk Tolstoy Theatre of Drama, established in 1921, gained great popularity thanks to the so-called Lipetsk Theatre Experiment. Its essence lies in the fact that the activity of the theater is simultaneously directed in three channels - performances for young spectators, performances for adults, as well as musical performances. For a small city, this is a rare situation when one theater combines the functions of three theaters at once: children's, "adult" and musical.

The history of the theater is full of events and transformations. In the first years of its existence, it had the status of a city, and immediately after the formation of the Lipetsk region changed its status to a regional one. In the autumn of 1968, the theater opened another season in a new building. The real flowering of the theater began with the arrival of a new artistic director in 1977 - the theater was headed by the famous Lipetsk theater figure Vladimir Pakhomov. A few years later, in 1981, the theater was named after Leo Tolstoy, and in 1994 received the title of "State Academic".

The modern theater proudly bears the name of the great writer, offering its audience a repertoire based on Tolstoy’s educational ideas. The rational, the good and the eternal are here sought to express by all possible means of theatrical art.
