Lipetsk Zoo

Lipetsk Zoo is perhaps the main attraction of the Lower Park of Lipetsk. It was founded in 1973 on the basis of a living corner, which was based in the park. Since then, the area of the zoo has significantly expanded and today covers more than four hectares, on which more than 3,500 animals and birds representing more than 300 species are comfortably located. Many of the inhabitants of the zoo are listed in the Red Book.

In 1993, the Lipetsk Zoo was included in the Eurasian Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Specialists of the zoo actively cooperate with zoos of capitals and other cities, implement projects for the exchange of animals and scientific data. Since 2006, the so-called “contact” zoo for the youngest visitors has been functioning. It is a large aviary, which contains the most harmless animals - rabbits, goats, llama baby, some species of birds. In the enclosure, children can go in and pet or feed the animals. In addition, the zoo has an aquarium, a terrarium, regular educational programs and lectures.

In the near future, the area of the Lipetsk Zoo will almost double, there will be new fascinating attractions and entertainment - there will be a small safari park, as well as thematic corners dedicated to African animals and predatory species.
