Matyr Reservoir
ooh Baikal, Lipetsk, Lipetsk region, Russia
Description:
The Matyr reservoir is located in the Gryazinsky district, in the Lipetsk region on a fairly large Matyr River. It is the largest water body in the region.
Seasonal regulation of runoff is carried out at the reservoir. It is used mainly for water supply to nearby settlements and recreation. In the 1980s, the Matyr Reservoir was also used for fishing.
In addition, the water of the reservoir is used in the closed cycle of the Lipetsk thermal power plant and in agriculture for irrigation. The right bank is rich in forests and built up with sanatoriums and recreation centers.
On hot days in summer, the water in the reservoir begins to "bloom" and because of the lack of oxygen, fish die en masse. Completely disappeared catfish, mould and holavl, which used to be abundant here.
