Borki Manor

village of Borki, Terbunsky district, Lipetsk region

Description:

Until the 1900s, the village of Borki belonged to the noble nest of Ofrosimov. They had an insignificant estate, but a huge amount of land. This was especially important for Nicholas II. In 1901, he decided to build an estate in the village for his cousin, Andrei Vladimirovich. For the design of the building from St. Petersburg was called architect A. Gauguin. After painstaking work, the master turned out a real castle in the medieval style. The estate consisted of a manor house, a people's house, a service and a park with cascading ponds.

It is noteworthy that the relative of Romanov in the estate almost did not live. He's only been there a couple of times. The reason for everything was his love for the ballerina, after which he traveled around the world.

In the early XX century, the estate was put up for auction. The Sheremetev merchant bought it. He, in turn, engaged in field breeding in Boroviki and began to breed horses, adding a huge stable.

In Soviet times, what only did not open in the estate. There was a Children's House, a school of peasant youth, then there was an ordinary secondary school.

In 1941, the estate burned down. It took a long time to reconstruct. As a result, at the end of the XX century was recognized as a protected object of cultural heritage.
