Description:
On the territory of the Upper Park of Oranienbaum, the Karasta River flows, the total length of which is 11 km. In the village of Bolshaya Konovalovo river originates, on wetlands in the forest, fed by springs. The water in the river is saturated with peat particles suspended and received from tributaries carrying water into the river, which creates a red hue of water in Karast. The Upper Red Pond on Karast is not part of the park, unlike the Lower Pond, but both ponds are artificially created. An important role is played by the water supply in the ponds, because it creates water pressure for the waterfalls of Oranienbaum. In the upper park, the waterfall is arranged in the form of granite stingray steps and granite blocks located in the vicinity. The five monolithic steps of the Waterfall on the Karasta River in the Upper Oranienbaum Park do not cease to please the eyes of tourists and visitors.
