Maykop

Sahrai River Valley

Russia, Republic of Adygea, Maikop district

Description:

The Sakhrai River is one of the many mountain rivers of the Republic of Adygea. Starting in the foothills of the Great Thach massif, it flows between the overgrown forests of mountain spurs. This small river with a length of only thirty-one kilometers attracts many people who want to admire rocky canyons and picturesque waterfalls.

There are many small, but quite powerful waterfalls on the river, following at a short distance from each other. Waterfalls do not have strictly fixed names, even locals call different waterfalls by the same name. The most recognizable and memorable are the names of Mankin Noise, Mamryuk, Rasschelin and Majorshin.

Along the channel stretches a road that allows you to explore the river by car. Most of the waterfalls are located on the stretch of the river between the villages of Ust-Sakhrai and Novoprokhladnoye. The surroundings of the Sakhrai River are not as visited by tourists as the Rufabgo Creek, and it is much easier to be alone with the beautiful nature of the northern Caucasus.
