Mount Fisiabgo
Russia, Republic of Adygea, Maikop district, Pobeda settlement
Description:
Mount Fiziabgo is the northernmost peak of the Dachov mountain range, separating the valleys of the Fars, Dach, Funt and White rivers. The evil woman was called this mountain Adygi. Climbing to the top of Fiziabgo, you can from a height of nine hundred ninety-two meters admire the majestic mountain Adygea and the mighty peaks of the Caucasus Mountains visible in the distance.
The main attraction of the mountain is St. Michael’s Monastery, located at its foot. Pilgrims visiting the monastery certainly climb the mountain. After all, there is a holy spring here, named in honor of the Great Martyr Panteleimon. It is said that this miraculous spring can heal any disease.
At the top of Fiziabgo once stood one of the churches of the monastery - Preobrazhenskaya. The glow of its golden domes was visible for many kilometers from the mountain. Unfortunately, in the middle of the twentieth century, the temple was blown up. There is now a cross in this place.
Descending from the mountain after visiting the holy spring, do not forget to inspect the cave monastic cells carved into the rock by Byzantine hermit monks in the ninth century. The narrow corridors will lead you to a small underground chapel.
