The Rock Split
Russia, Republic of Adygea, Maikop district, village of Khamyshki
Description:
Rock Raskol is an interesting geological monument located in the mountain Adygea to the west of the village of Khamyshka. It stands alone in the middle of the forest high cliff with a bare top. It got its name because of the colossal split throughout its thickness, formed many years ago after a strong earthquake. One of the rock-forming pillars separated from it and looks like a separate stone monolith.
At the foot of the rock flows a small river Bzykha. Pushing its way through the heaps of stones and boulders, it forms several very beautiful waterfalls about five meters high. In deep bowls under the waterfalls you can swim. Having admired the picturesque waterfalls, you can walk along the crack in the heart of the cliff.
The width of the fault ranges from two to eight meters. The height of the walls reaches a hundred meters. On the fault, as if on a narrow canyon you can go through the whole rock. Here it is gloomy and gloomy, water oozes from the walls of the fault, the noise of waterfalls echoes from the walls of the gorge. Climbing to the top of the cliff, you can enjoy an amazing view of the surrounding area opening from its height.
