The Mikhailovsky Historical Museum as a branch of the regional museum was opened for visitors in 1979, being transformed from a school museum. The main reason for the opening of the museum in Mikhailovo was the fact that the city and district is one of those on the territory of which in November and December 1941 there were domestic battles with the German fascist invaders. In the summer of 1972, the young mechanizer of the Chapaev kolkhoz Anatoly Merzlov made a heroic act. The expositions of the school and folk museum dedicated to Merzlov in his homeland formed the basis of an open branch. Interest in these themes and the more ancient history of the city as a fortress of the time of Ivan the Terrible led to the attractiveness of the museum. |
The main building built in 1910 attracts with its architecture and allowed interesting placement of expositions. Our branch - "Daily hut" - an architectural monument of the early XVIII century, a monument of republican significance. |
