Mount Tepsei
Description:
Tepsey is a two-headed mountain 639 meters high, located at the confluence of the Tuba and Yenisei rivers, on its right bank. The western and southern slopes are rocky and precipitous, the northeast is gentle. The picturesque view that opens from the top of the mountain, and a convenient backwater at the foot made the surroundings of Tepsei a favorite holiday destination for residents of the region.
However, Mount Tepsei is famous not only for this. It is mentioned many times in Khakassian legends and is considered sacred. For example, there is a legend that in one of the caves the treasures of the Khakassian princes of antiquity are walled up.
In fact, the mountain has considerable archaeological value. For a century and a half, it has been the object of close study by historians. Some of the ancient cave paintings and inscriptions can be seen today without much difficulty, but many mysteries are still waiting for their discoverer.
