Description:

The Museum of Colored Stone was established in 1970 on the initiative of geologist Dava Vladimir Nikolaevich at the Monchegorsk Laboratory of Building Stone of the Kola branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. In 1976, the laboratory was transferred to Apatity. Dav V.N. tried his best to resume the activities of the museum. Thanks to his efforts, the Monchegorsk Department of Colored Stone of the Murmansk Regional Museum of Local History was opened. Since January 2000, our museum has become an independent municipal institution. In May 2000 the museum was named after its founder V.N. Dava. The peculiarity of the museum is that in its funds - only colored stone and products from it. The homeland of the samples is not only Russia, but also the CIS countries and other countries. Opens the exposition "business card" of the Kola Peninsula - amethyst brush. Brushes of different color shades occupy a whole showcase.
