About the company:

The Great Moscow State Circus was opened on April 30, 1971. Built on the project of a group of architects and engineers under the leadership of Y. Belopolsky, it still amazes with its technical capabilities. There was no such circus, and there is nowhere in the world! The auditorium is an amphitheater 36 meters high, consisting of 23 rows (3400 seats). Five interchangeable arenas are located in a huge engine room at a depth of 18 meters. There is also a huge machine room. The change of arenas, thanks to well-established technique and electronics, occurs in five to six minutes. One giant 13-meter circle descends, pulls aside, and the other, moved by the “giant’s hand”, stands in its place and rises up. In many performances of the circus, all five arenas were involved: horse, ice, water, illusion and light. There is in the circus and the sixth arena - rehearsal. He's busy from morning till late at night. New numbers are born here, artists warm up before leaving. The circus has everything you need for creativity. Directors, choreographers, musicians, artists help artists create new numbers. The workshops make costumes and props. Currently, the circus employs several hundred artists performing numbers of almost all known circus genres. Many of them have the title of people’s and honored artists of Russia. Their high artistic and professional level is also evidenced by the fact that every year the artists of the Bolshoi Moscow Circus participate in the most prestigious international festivals and competitions, winning the highest awards. Entire programs and individual rooms regularly go on tour in more than 20 countries, working not only in circuses, but also on theatrical stages, variety shows and parks. In 1996, the Circus celebrated its 25th anniversary with the performance “Silver Show on the Vorobyov Mountains”, staged by the People’s Artist of Russia Leonid Kostyuk. The performance was a great success, it was watched by more than 500 thousand spectators, including foreign ones. During its existence, the Circus presented more than a hundred different programs, both plot and divertissement, in which the best artists of the Russian and foreign circus took part. In 2001, the Circus turned 30 years old. This anniversary was marked by a new grandiose performance.
