About the company:

The Central Academic Theatre of the Russian Army was founded in 1929 at the House of the Red Army and began its work with the cultural service of troops in the Far East. Initially, the troupe of the Red Army Theatre consisted of four creative groups, namely the Red Army Song and Dance Ensemble (the future ensemble named after B. Alexandrov), the collective of the puppet theater, the theater of small forms and the Drama group. The first premiere of the theater took place in February 1930. Over the years of the existence of the Red Army Theatre, more than 300 premieres were held, more than 44 thousand performances were played. In February 1934, according to the project of architects K. Alabyan and V. Simbirtsev, construction of a theater building began on the Commune square, which opened its doors on September 14, 1940. Our theater is not only about the army, but also about the army. The Central Academic Theatre of the Russian Army is located in a grandiose unparalleled building – a masterpiece of architecture of the era of the “Stalin Empire”. The theater has the largest stage in Europe, on which at one time cavalry rode, drove tanks and planes. The large hall is designed for 2.5 thousand seats. However, throughout its history, the Theatre of the Russian Army preferred to fight for the public not so much by number as by skill: the troupe has always been considered one of the best in Moscow. Many remarkable artists have created the glory of the Red Army Theatre for decades and continue to work in the theater of the Russian Army. Among them are folk artists L. Dobrzhanskaya, V. Pestovsky, N. Sazonova, V. Zeldin, L. Kasatkina, N. Pastukhov, L. Chursina, V. Soshalsky and L. Golubkina.
