125009, Moscow, Theatre Passage, 1 (Theatre) - the main stage

About the company:

Construction of the building of the Maly Theatre was started in 1821 by merchant V.V. Vargin. The theater opened on September 14, 1924.

During the Second World War, the theater was also transferred to the building on Bolshaya Ordynka, 69 (where the Struysky Theatre used to be, and then the Zamoskvoretsky Theatre). The first performance was “Sergeev Engineer” by Vsevolod Rock.

The modern generation of artists and directors of the Maly Theatre is distinguished by its commitment to its rich traditions and relies on the experience of its predecessors. Today, as before, plays by Chekhov, Tolstoy, Ostrovsky are staged. In each season, Maly releases 4-5 new performances and removes any of the old titles from his repertoire. The theater troupe is actively touring.

The Maly Theatre is the initiator and organizer of the festival "Ostrovsky in the House of Ostrovsky", aimed at supporting the Russian theater province.
