Vakhtangov Theatre is one of the famous Moscow theaters, which is located in the historical center of the city, on the Old Arbat.
The theater began in 1913, when Evgeny Bagrationovich Vakhtangov headed the Student Drama Studio. November 13, 1921 is considered the birthday of the theater. On this day, the premiere of the play “The Miracle of St. Anthony” took place.
The large auditorium of the theater accommodates a little more than a thousand spectators. The theatre also has a small stage.
In 1931, a museum was opened at the theater, where the theater archive contains all the documents on the performances. The museum prepares and publishes books on the history of the theater.
