M. Gorky Moscow Art Academic Theatre named after M. Gorky

Loyalty to the humanistic traditions of the famous Russian theater, the 100th anniversary of the foundation of which the world celebrated in 1998, is the invariable basis of everything that the Gorky Moscow Art Theater lives in today. Since October 1987, when the play of M. Gorky “At the bottom” the theater after the release of their part of the troupe declared its loyalty to the founders of the Moscow Art Theatre, more than forty performances of the Russian and foreign repertoire were staged, and first of all, plays by M. A. Bulgakov – “Zoykina Apartment”, “White Guard”, “Mad-wise Jourden”. Still in the repertoire of the Moscow Art Theatre named after M. Gorky of the play by A. P. Chekhov “The Cherry Orchard”, staged in 1987 by S. Danchenko, “Three Sisters”, restored by T. V. Doronina based on the directorial drawing by V. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko, a new production of “The Seagull” is being prepared. Over the past ten years, the productions of classics have enjoyed the constant success of the viewer: “Every sage is quite simple”, “A profitable place”, “Forest” by A. N. Ostrovsky, “The Cliff” by I. A. Goncharov, “Women in the People’s Assembly” by Aristophanes. Multiplying the traditions of its theater, the Gorky Moscow Art Theatre pays great attention to modern drama: on the 100th anniversary of S. A. Yesenin, T. V. Doronina staged the play by A. Yakovlev “The Angleter Version”, for three years O. Danilov’s play “We Go to See Chapaev” dedicated to the memory of Igor Talkov has been consistently successful. A new premiere performance based on the play by V. I. Belov “Family Holidays” directed by A. Vasiliev, dedicated to the events in Moscow on October 3-4, 1993. M. Gorky Moscow Art Theatre pays great attention to young people - a group of young leading theater artists, engaged in all new productions - T. Shalkovskaya, V. Klementyev, S. Gabrielyan, M. Kabanov, was formed. The Moscow Art Theatre named after M. Gorky stands on the positions of Russian realistic art, professing the great commandment of the founders of the theater K. S. Stanislavsky and V. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko, the Moscow Art Theatre is a public Russian drama theater that carries out the work of attracting the viewer to the life of the human spirit.
