Palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich in Kolomenskoye

Description:

Would you like to go back 350 years and see how the Russian tsars lived?

We have that opportunity!
In 2010, the wooden palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich was recreated in the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve (reign years 1645-1676).

Contemporaries called it the eighth wonder of the world, and indeed, such a palace did not exist before or after. The reconstruction is very close to the original, because it was carried out according to drawings made during the time of Catherine II in 1767, when she wished to repair the palace.

As guests of the tsar, we will walk along the Red Porch in the main canopy. There will be no limit to your surprise in the men’s half of the palace: wealth and luxury are everywhere – gold leaf, painted walls and ceilings, English cloth and handmade oriental carpets.
Visiting different rooms, we learn a lot of interesting things:

  • How were the royal feasts held, and what dishes were at them
  • daily routine of Alexei Mikhailovich
  • Rules of Conduct of the Boyar Duma under the Tsar
  • How were the ambassadorial receptions that the ambassadors gave to the king, trying to appease him?
  • "non-parade" part of the palace - bedroom, personal office, prayer room and soap Alexei Mikhailovich.

The female half will reveal to you the secrets of the life of the queen of the 17th century.

Its rooms are much more modest, because only close relatives could visit it.

We will see the workshop of the queen, her throne place, a prayer hall.

And also the rooms of the princesses – Sofia Alekseevna, who was regent under minors John and Peter Alekseevich.

And Elizabeth Petrovna, who was born in this palace in 1709.

Sons up to 5 years of age were on the female half of the palace, and then moved to the male, where their education was engaged in teachers. The rooms of the three sons of the king, who later were kings – Theodor, John and Peter, will introduce you to their life and living conditions.

As a pleasant end to the walk around the Palace, you can visit the observation deck on the third floor of the tower, which offers a beautiful view of the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve.
