Labyrinths of the Intercession Courtyards

Description:

Contrast walk through one of the most cozy areas of Old Moscow. Walking along the Pokrovka we will definitely look into its secret courtyards. We are waiting for "Galdarikas", forges of the century before last, ancient chambers - sometimes you can catch yourself thinking that you were transferred to half a century or a century ago.

In the XV-XVI century in this area grew Grand Duke gardens of Ivan III. The road to them from the Kremlin ran along Pokrovskaya Street, in the XVII century divided into two now known: Pokrovka and Maroseyka. You will learn how centuries have changed this area, the history of the names of streets and alleys, as well as their lives of simple and not very inhabitants of the Intercession.

Step by step we will plunge into an amazing series of sunny and dark sides of the history of the area. It so happened that here the domestic Pokrovka coexisted with the criminal Craft, aristocratic mansions - with former dens, fashionable lofts and attics - with communal apartments, the sanctity of chapels and cathedrals - with nests of banditry, vice and talent. On one - Chekhov with Levitan, on the other - thief Saska Ponomar and bailiff Rudnikov.
