Prechiska - Moscow Parnassus
Description:
Prechistenka is an ancient Moscow street, where the chambers of the 17th century, the estates of the generals of the war of 1812, and the palaces of the upper strata of society have been preserved. This street is also called Moscow Saint-Germain, by analogy with the aristocratic suburb of Paris.
In the late 19th - early 20th century, ruined noble nests are acquired by rich industrialists - tea traders, manufacturers. They finish the house in a new taste, demonstrating their capital clearly.
After the revolution, the houses housed Soviet institutions, embassies and even the residence of the patriarch.
Behind every house is a story, sometimes a detective story and sometimes a joke.
And this street is closely connected with the names of our writers - A.S. Pushkin, L.N. Tolstoy, M.A. Bulgakov. It was here that Professor Filipp Filippovich Preobrazhensky from the Heart of a Dog lived, and here he first met Sharik. And the famous basement of the Master from the Master and Margarita is also nearby.
I call Prechistenka Moscow Parnassus, by analogy with a mountain in Greece, where, according to mythology, the muses of arts lived. In addition to writers, sculptors lived here, as well as ministers of Terpsichora, artists and patrons. And now there is the Academy of Painting.
We will walk along one of the most beautiful streets of the capital, we will enter the nearby alleys.
During the tour you will learn:
- The origin of the name of the street, it (as it happens in Moscow) changed from indecent to holy.
- where there is a steel safe, where the multivolume manuscripts of Leo Tolstoy are stored;
- the history of the collection of the Impressionists Ivan Morozov, you will see where it was located;
- who served as the prototype of Professor Preobrazhensky;

- And much more.
