Bassmanny Hospital

ooh New Basmannaya, 26th building 1, Moscow, Russia

Description:

The unique estate of Russian industrialist N. N. Demidov, built at the end of the XVIII century, today is an object of cultural heritage of federal importance.

This building, built in the style of classicism, has a rich history: originally belonged to the grandfather of the aforementioned industrialist - Count N. A. Golovin. N. N. Demidov sold the "magnificent house" to Prince Golitsyn in the early 19th century.

In 1812, this estate survived a severe fire, a couple of decades later, Prince Golitsyn sold the "Moscow Hermitage". The building received a new purpose - an orphanage, was also attached to the house church of the Assumption of Anna, and at the end of the 19th century there was now the famous Basmanny Hospital.

In 2015, it was decided to liquidate the hospital due to unprofitability. At the moment, the building is under protection, further appointment is unknown. Also, the famous house on Basmannaya Street is the scene of several episodes of the series "Chernobyl".
