Annunciation Church
Description:
The Moscow diocese of Volokolamsk deanery includes an Orthodox church. This is the Church of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos, which is located near the village of Ostashevo, in the village of Brazhnikovo, in the Volokolamsk district of the Moscow region.
The temple was built in 1715 in the patrimony of Prozorovskiy P.I. on the site of a wooden church burned in fire. In 1859, a new bell tower was built instead of the previous one. The side aisles of St. George and Petropavlovsky were abolished in the XIX century, and in 1874 the warm Sofia aisle was arranged in a refectory and separated by a stone wall, the lower windows and part of the cornices were converted.
The tiered white-stone temple on the cross-shaped base resembles the architecture of the patrimonial churches of Naryshkina. Its external decoration is extremely simple, but at the same time all the proportions are expressive, all the individual elements are in relation to each other. The volume of the building is stepped, which emphasizes the refectory, altar and lowered rooms of the side porches that adjoin the tower central part of the building. In one of the walls of the refectory there is a staircase overlooking the bell tower.
It's a monument. Unusually looks octagonal shape of the former windows on the lower tier. Large arched niches form along the walls of the arcade with formworks in the vaults. Unfortunately, the decoration and decoration of the temple were lost. Rehabilitation work is already underway.
