The Great Ustoy Bridge
Description:
The Great Ustya Bridge is thrown over the Moscow River at the confluence of the Yauza River. The structure was built in 1938 by Vakhurkin, Goltz and Sobolev next to the arch bridge of the same name, built much earlier.
In the Ustya bridge there are no above-ground coastal foundations - instead of them there are two underground foundations, which are flat foundations. In the main span there are six steel arches, which weigh 2,235 tons. The gift plate and the carriageway continue above the embankments. The main span reaches a length of 134 meters, and the width of the bridge is 34 meters.
In 1999, the bridge underwent reconstruction under the project of Giprotransmost, during which the upper structure was replaced by an orthotropic plate. Now trams and cars travel on the bridge, as well as pedestrians.
