The Royal Estate "Izmailovo"

izmailovo, Moscow, Russia

Description:

Most often the estate is associated with the name of Peter I. Izmailovo groves were a favorite place for maneuvers of the amusing regiments of the first Russian emperor. In the middle of the nineteenth century, the Nikolaev military almshouse was organized here. The former estate was supplemented by larger and more modern buildings, so that the landscape of the estate is not visually perceived as medieval.

In the center of the estate is the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God surrounded by soldiers and officer corps, and on the reverse side of the cathedral is the Sovereign’s Court.

The main entrance to the estate was the Bridge Tower - now there is a branch of the State Historical Museum "Izmailovo and the rulers of Russia".

The museum conducts a great educational work - excursions dedicated to the history of the estate, costumed and theatrical excursions and performances, concerts of ancient music and musical and poetic evenings.
