Description:

In the White City, in the village of Podkopiakh, there is an Orthodox Church of the Epiphany deanery - the Church of Nicholas the Wonderworker, which is part of the Moscow diocese.

In 1493 the first mention of the church appeared. The four of the building appeared in the 1550s and was made of thin brick - Grozny small man. In 1657 it was reported that the temple was stone.

The church was restored in the XVII century. In 1750-1759, a separate bell tower was built and the dome was redesigned. The main throne was consecrated in the name of the Kazan Mother of God, and the chapels - in honor of Nicholas the Wonderworker and St. Sergius. Now it is a one-headed temple of cubic shape with a hexagonal completion of the dome.

During the Soviet era, the building was closed, and services resumed only in 1991. At the same time, the temple was restored and re-consecrated. Today you can see fragments of decor of the XVII-XVIII centuries, revealed by restorers. The church has an adult Orthodox school of rhetoric and a Sunday children's school.
