Holy Resurrection Church

Moscow, Sergei Makeev Street, house 10

Description:

The Church of the Holy Resurrection is an active Armenian temple located in the Armenian cemetery in Moscow. It was founded by brothers Min and Yakim Lazarev in 1815. After the October Revolution, the Church of the Holy Resurrection became the only Armenian shrine in the city, as the other two were destroyed. Due to the fact that the temple was in the cemetery, a granite workshop and warehouse were equipped in its premises. In 1956, the church was returned to the faithful.

The church has a typical architectural style and interior decoration for Armenian temples. In front of the building there is a stele with a carved cross – khachkar – to which wreaths are laid for mourning events, including the day of memory of the victims of the Armenian genocide.
