The Church of the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God in Vesnyaki

Russia, Eastern Administrative District of Moscow, Veshnyaki, Youth Street, 17

Description:

The Church of the Assumption of the Most Holy Theotokos is Orthodox and is located in Veshnyaki in the East of Moscow. It was built in the mid-17th century by Fedor Sheremetev, who was a well-known Russian diplomat, but then adopted the monastic rank.

Instead of a dome at the temple stands a tent. In the early 20th century, the Bolsheviks stole all church valuables, and during the Great Patriotic War, a military warehouse was located in the temple. But despite all the difficulties, the Church of the Assumption of the Most Holy Theotokos was reopened in 1947 and works to this day.

At the temple there is a Sunday school, and nearby there is a Veshnyakov cemetery.

You can get to the temple from the metro Ryazansky Prospekt by bus No. 133 and No. 208, as well as from the Vykhino metro by bus No. 127 and No. 620.
