Clock Tower

andropov Avenue, 39 building 5, Moscow.

Description:

The clock tower is located at the front gate of the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve. The clock mechanism of the tower is considered the oldest surviving mechanism in Russia.

The architectural ensemble, consisting of a front gate and a small stone clock tower, was built in the seventeenth century under Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich.

On the third tier of the old tower there is a clock mechanism. It was specially brought here from the Sukharev Tower, which was decided to demolish in connection with the reconstruction of the Garden Ring.

For a long time, the clock on the tower did not work and was only recently reconstructed and restarted.

Now every day, starting from 9 am, over the park-reserve Kolomenskoye spreads not only the bell chime, but also the musical work “Orle Russian”.
