Black Lake

Russia, Moscow, Kosino-Ukhtomsky District, near Kosinskaya Street

Description:

Black Lake in Moscow is located in the Eastern administrative district of Kosino-Ukhtomsky district. It is part of the Kosin Lakes system, originally it was the smallest of them. Due to the accumulated peat, the water in the lake is dark and opaque, as a result of which the lake got its name. Peatlands often burn on the wetlands of the lake, so the breeding of fires is strictly prohibited.

The area of the lake is approximately 25 hectares with a water depth of less than three meters. The first part of the lake, called the North Plyos, has an oval shape and is historical. The second part - South, resembles a triangle and appeared as a result of peat development, which adversely affected the ecology of the reservoir.

The first mention of the lakes of the Kosin group dates back to the 15th century. The nature of the reservoir is unique in its own way. On the wetlands of the Black Lake grow rare plants listed in the Red Book of Moscow. From the fauna you can find many species of ducks and swans. In large numbers in the lake there are carp, carp, moult and roach, sometimes you can find pike, amur and perch. They're in.

You can get to the sights either from the metro "Vykhino" by shuttle taxi No 502, or from the metro "Novokosino" by shuttle taxi No 940 or buses No 14 and No 773.
